Wilma A. Rose

Wilma Alice, daughter of Sam and Allie (Abrams) White, was born May 9, 1927 at Stuart, Iowa. She grew up in Stuart and graduated from Stuart High School. After graduation she worked in Des Moines for a short time. On September 7, 1946, Wilma was united in marriage with Carroll Rose at Jefferson Center Church in Menlo. They lived in Stuart for about a year and started their family of four sons. In 1948 they moved to Bayard where Wilma was a homemaker and held several jobs over the years. She worked in the family produce, Vaux Grocery and as a bookkeeper in their gas station. She also worked part-time, seasonal work for Guthrie County. Her husband died in 1988 and Wilma continued to live in their home while she worked part-time. Wilma enjoyed reading and playing cards in her spare time. When her health began to decline she became a resident of Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids in mid November 2012. She was hospitalized off and on and eventually entered hospice care at Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center where she died on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 18 days. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband and three sisters Ruby Pine, Edna Garwood and Mabel Piper. She is survived by her four sons: Steve Rose of Bayard; Mark Rose of Perry; Scott Rose of Bayard and Kirk Rose of Bayard; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren: Stacy Wegman (Tim) and children Jay, Nick and Brett; Amy Coenen (Heath) and children Kennedy and Kade; Kimberly Darr (Lem) and children Tanner and Zach; Jill Borgeson (Michael) and children Jace and Seth; Kyler South (Sara) and child Summer; Jim Rose and Cassandra Rose; sisters in law Lois Raner of Grimes and Mary Lou Stoneburner of Panora.
