William Delos, son of Edward Delos and Mary Alice (Minnihan) McGivney, was born September 17, 1937 at Carroll, IA. The family lived in the Bagley, Perry and Jefferson area. Bill graduated from St. Patricks High School in Perry in 1955. That summer he enlisted in the Army National Guard. Bill attained the rank of SP4 E4 in Baty B RKT HOW BN 185th Artillery before his discharge in 1966.

During this time, on August 27, 1960, Bill was united in marriage with Jo Dee Bottenfield. They were the parents of three children and lived on a farm north of Bagley.

Later, Bill managed a motel and worked as a counselor in northern Missouri. While living in Missouri, he was united in marriage in 1980 with Gayle Morgan and three children were born to this union. He enjoyed bringing his family to Iowa to visit the farm in the summer months.

In his spare time and during retirement, Bill enjoyed fishing, reading and above all spending time with his grandchildren. He always encouraged his family to spend time in outdoor activities. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.

Bill died on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Mountain View, MO, where he had made his home. He was 71 years, 6 months and 2 days of age.

Preceding him in death are his parents and son Michael John McGivney.

He is survived by five children: Michelle McGivney of Illinois; Colette Rutherford of Ames, IA; Erica Nicole McGivney, Crystal Lancaster and Shawn McGivney all of Mountain View, MO; six grandchildren: Jack Cundiff, Cole Rutherford, Zoey Hockman, Zara Hockman, Michael Lancaster and Courtny Lancaster; one brother Patrick McGivney of Des Moines, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
