Wayne Arthur, son of Rudolph Anders and Elizabeth (Budde) Seastrom, was born December 21, 1918, at home on the farm in Audubon County, Iowa. He attended rural school in Guthrie and Audubon Counties.
Wayne worked with his family at Seastrom Brothers Construction as a carpenter. He then worked at Seastroms Plumbing and Heating and Drees Heating and Plumbing before working again as a carpenter both at Keister Lumber Company and independently. He started farming in 1974 and continued farming until his retirement in 1983, but Wayne continued to help on the farm until a couple of years ago.
On April 4, 1941, Wayne enlisted in the United States Army. He attained the rank of Tech Sergeant and served during World War II in both the European and African Theaters. His injuries from hot shrapnel earned him the Purple Heart. Following his honorable discharge on July 18, 1945, he returned to Coon Rapids.
That same year, on December 9, Wayne was united in marriage with Alice Anderson at Jefferson. They were the parents of two children.
Wayne was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and American Legion Gurney Parker Post 357. Wayne enjoyed his farming and continued an interest in carpentry and plumbing and heating over the years.
