Wayne Louis, son of Louis L. and Christina (Lorenzen) Ranniger, was born June 21, 1922, at home on the farm north of Aspinwall, Iowa. He attended Hayes Township #7 rural school through the 8th grade and soon began working full time on the family farm.
On February 27, 1946, Wayne was united in marriage with Viola F. Henkelman at Sacred Heart Church in Manilla. Five children were born into this union. They made their home north of Aspinwall where Wayne continued to farm. He raised and sold SPF Duroc hogs for 45 years. Viola often said that he could sell a hog in ten minutes, but the paper work and wrapping it up? often took hours.
Wayne was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning. He was a Crawford County REC board member for 23 years; Aspinwall Coop Board member for 24 years; and at the time of his death was the oldest member of Hayes Township Schuetzen Verein. Wayne enjoyed dancing, playing cards, playing drums with Roy Schillings Band and visiting with people.
After the death of his wife Viola on March 8, 1992, Wayne remained on the farm. He then met and married Lucille Veseen Thomas of Council Bluffs on November 18, 1995, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning.
On January 15, 2008, Wayne died as the result of an automobile accident near Avoca, Iowa. He was 85 years, 6 months and 25 days of age.
