Wanda Lucille Lehrkamp

Wanda Lucille, daughter of Earl and Wanda (Wright) Coulter, was born July 22, 1927 on a farm near Ross in Audubon County, Iowa. She began her education in Audubon County rural schools. Her family then moved to Buchanan County where she continued her schooling and graduated from Independence High School in 1945. On January 15, 1947 Wanda was united in marriage with Merlin (Larry) Lehrkamp at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. They lived in Carroll where they raised their three children. Wanda worked the Crouse Cartage Company as a interline clerk administrator for 25 years. She held various other jobs after her employment there. Wanda was very passionate in raising her children. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll and its United Methodist Women. She volunteered for St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and Retired Senior Volunteer Program. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, bowling and being a member of Woman's Bowling Association. Wanda had been in failing health for a number of years, however was able to remain in her home with the help of her family and hospice. She died at home in Carroll on Monday, December 3, 2012 at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 11 days. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Therma Andrews, Marti Tull and Mary (Bill) Horn; and brothers Robert Coulter and Ken Coulter. She is survived by son Michael Lehrkamp of Blair, NE; daughters Gail (Ed) Rhoades of Blair, NE and Susan (Dean) Mancuso of McAlester, OK; grandchildren Erica (Brian) Richardson and Adam Siemer; great grandchildren Natalie Richardson, Jake Richardson and Emily Richardson, all of McAlester, OK; sisters Bettie Conrad of Mt. Vernon and Earlene (Gene) Devlin of Dundee; brother Bill (Madonna) Coulter of Independence, IA; sisters in law Bev Coulter of Independence, Naomi Reeves of Davenport, Mary Brockman of Lake View and Cleo Ankenbauer of West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
