Wallace Darryl, son of Harry Louis and Marie Amanda (Schwiesow) Schroeder, was born May 9, 1933 in Aspinwall, Iowa. He attended the Aspinwall Independent School through the eighth grade and then graduated from Manning High School in 1952. After graduation he attended Concordia Teacher's College in Seward, NE, graduating in 1956. He then taught elementary school at Immanuel Lutheran School in St. Louis, MO for five years. Following that he taught two more years at Immanuel Lutheran School in Lockwood, MO. In 1963 he returned to Iowa as an elementary school teacher in Indianola, Manilla and West Harrison in Modale. In 1965 Wallace purchased the grocery store in Aspinwall from Frank Ehrichs, renaming it Schroeder's Grocery. He was ably assisted in the operation of the grocery store by his mother Marie Schroeder who also served as the Aspinwall Postal Clerk. The store closed in 1985. Wallace started his various telemarketing positions, first in Harlan for MCSI, then in Audubon for a brief time before his many years as a TSR for Breda Telemarketing Company in Breda. Wallace was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning and was baptized and confirmed by Pastor J. M. Ansorge. He was a Sunday school and vacation bible school teacher, as well as an officer of the congregation. He was a delegate to the Republican Party 5th district convention several times. Wallace's health began to fail several months before he was admitted to the Manning Regional Healthcare Center where he died on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 6 days. Preceding him in death are his parents and many aunts and uncles including his aunt Amanda Clausen. He is survived by his only sister Carol Ann Schroeder who graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf, several cousins and friends. Casketbearers are David Weller, Brent Thomssen, Brian Lingle, Scott Lingle, Chris Schilling, and Dereck Trimpe.
