Viola Earnistina, daughter of George and Mary (Dettbarn) Kock, was born February 27, 1916, in Jackson Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended rural school at Jackson Township #5. After completing her schooling she worked at home.

On January 4, 1939, Viola was united in marriage with Marvin Pfannkuch at Wheatland Presbyterian Parsonage near Breda. They moved to a farm near Manning where they farmed and raised their son. Viola was a homemaker. Upon retirement in 1975, they moved to Manning though they still took a keen interest in the farm where their son and family now lived. After the unexpected death of her husband in 1993, Viola remained in their home in Manning until April of 2000 when she moved to the Lamp Apartments.

Viola was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Manning where she was active in Presbyterian Women and Martha Circle. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and, in later years, volunteer work.

When Violas health began to fail in early 2007 she became a resident of the Manning Plaza in February of 2007. Her health never returned and she died there on Friday, March 16, 2007, at the age of 91 years and 17 days.

Preceding Viola in death are her husband; parents; sister Leona Dreessen and brother Raymond Kock.

She is survived by her son Dale Pfannkuch and wife Renee; two grandchildren Ryan Pfannkuch of Hastings, NE and Rachel Pfannkuch of Atlantic, IA; sister Edna Wiese of Ames; and in-laws Earl Pfannkuch of Manning, Don Pfannkuch and wife Kay of Manning, Irene Olson of Manning and Bernice Pfannkuch of Manilla; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
