Viola Helena, daughter of Otto and Ella (Andersen) Reich, was born December 8, 1912, in Audubon County, Iowa. The family shortly moved to Shelby County, and Viola grew up on the family farm west of Elk Horn. Viola attended country school Clay No. 5 and was baptized and confirmed at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church.
On November 22, 1933, Viola was united in marriage with Milo Jensen. Three children were born to this union. After their marriage they farmed in Audubon County near Brayton for thirty four years. Viola worked as a cook in various restaurants after they retired and moved into Elk Horn in 1972. She was always a busy mother, homemaker and farm wife. She was an active member of the Elk Horn Lutheran Church and involved in Womens Clubs as well. Viola enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, playing cards and Aggravation.? Above all she treasured time with her family and grandchildren. Viola will be remembered as the ideal mother.
Viola became a resident of the Salem Lutheran Homes in Elk Horn in December of 2007. She died there on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the age of 95 years, 4 months and 29 days.
Preceding Viola in death are her parents; husband Milo Jensen in 1995; brothers Freddie Reich and wife Loretta and Folmer Reich and wife Reta; and brothers-in-law Norman Juelsgaard and Eldred Michaelson.
She is survived by her three children: Darrell Jensen and wife Melissa of Volga, South Dakota; Carolyn Kay of Omaha, Nebraska; and Bob Jensen and wife Deanna of Tucson, Arizona; eight grandchildren: Bill Jensen and wife Dawn; Thom Jensen; Jane Jensen; Joey Jensen and wife Cherri; Mark Jensen and wife Paula; Jill and husband Jeff Spires; Brad Kay and wife Patty; Carmen Anstey; 18 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters Verda Juelsgaard of Elk Horn and Elaine Michaelson of Atlantic; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
