Viola C. Starman

Viola Christina, daughter of John G. and Rosa (Langenfeld) Siepker, was born March 31, 1921 on a farm near Templeton, Eden Township, Carroll County, Iowa. She attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton and then remained at home to help her parents. On June 9, 1947 Viola was united in marriage with Joseph Bernard Starman at Holy Angels Church in Roselle. They lived on a farm south of Roselle and were the parents of five children. They eventually moved into Roselle. Viola was a homemaker; however, in 1972 she started working at General Electric in Carroll. She retired in 1987. Viola was a member of Holy Angels Parish in Roselle. In her spare time she enjoyed Bingo, traveling to the casinos and playing cards. In 1997 Viola's husband Joe died and she moved to Carroll. When her health began to fail, she became a resident of the Carroll Health Center in 2003. She died there on Friday, March 5, 2010, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 2 days. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; daughter Denise in infancy; three brothers Nick Siepker; John Siepker and wife Rita; and Ed Siepker and wife Marie; sister Marie and husband Andrew Eischeid; and sister-in-law Marie Siepker. Viola is survived by her four children: Darlene Starman and special friend Nick of Scottsdale, AZ; Betty Jean Liz' Schaefer and special friend Fritz Short of Carroll; Jerome Jerry' Starman and wife Beth Huebner-Starman of Carroll; and Merle Starman and wife Sharon of State Center; two granddaughters Renee and husband Troy Haberl of Cave Creek, AZ and Katrina Warren of Sioux Falls, SD; brother George Siepker of Gray; brother-in-law Ted Starman of Carroll; sisters-in-law Hilary Siepker of Fonda and Louise Starman of Carroll; other relatives and friends.
