   Vincent Peter, son of Leo and Marie (Soyer) Irlbeck, was born September 3, 1929 in Arcadia, Iowa. He attended rural school and then graduated from Arcadia High School in 1946. Vince enlisted in the United States Air Force on March 31, 1952 serving in Korea and Guam with the 28th Air Police Squadron. Later from 1973 – 1977 he served in the Army Reserve.

   After his honorable discharge in 1956 Vince returned to Iowa and started working at Farner-Bocken Co. in Carroll in 1957. The next year on May 17, 1958 Vince was united in marriage with Virgine Meischeid at St. Peter & Paul Church (now Holy Spirit) in Carroll by Msg. Frank Greteman. They were the parents of four children and continued to live in Carroll. The family belonged to St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll. He held various job positions at Farner-Bocken Co. during his 50+ years there.

   Vince enjoyed working and never really retired, though he had a retirement party in 2007. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports, especially the Cubs, Hawkeyes and Kuemper Knights. Vince was a member of the American Legion Maurice Dunn Post #7 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3517.

   In July 2015 Vince moved to Swan House. He died early Wednesday morning, February 8, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 5 days.

   Preceding him in death are his parents; wife in 1991; grandson Ryan Irlbeck; siblings Leon Irlbeck, Darlene Steffes, Alvin Irlbeck, Denny Irlbeck and Rose (Frances) Roth.

   Vince is survived by his children Scott (Sonja) Irlbeck of Marion, Julie (Tim)Gehling of Carroll, Sara (Jerry) Venner of Omaha and Beth (Jeremy) Schaefer of Carroll; 11 grandchildren Marin Irlbeck, Morgan (Jordan) Reinking, Tanner Gehling, Brett Venner, Derek Venner, Grant Venner, Riley Venner, John Paul Venner, Logan Venner, Jacob Schaefer and Justin Schaefer; great grandchild Charlotte Reinking; siblings Vigil (Roe) Irlbeck of Maple River, Marilyn (Kenny) Foley of Carroll, sisters and brother in law Mary Irlbeck, Cindy Irlbeck and Lawrence Steffes all of Carroll; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
