Vila Mae Ranniger

April 12, 1923 — June 5, 2019

Vila Mae, daughter of Ben and Minnie (Copp) Cafourek, was born April 12, 1923 at Myrtle, Minnesota. She attended country school through the eighth grade and then worked as a hired girl for neighbors and helped her father on the farm.

On December 5, 1945 Vila was united in marriage with Wilmer W. Ranniger in Hayward, Minnesota. Four children were born to this union. The couple farmed northwest of Manning, Iowa until 1974 when they moved into Manning. Vila then worked for Nelson Manufacturing for six years. After Wilmer passed away in 2003, Vila remained in their home until settling at Manning Senior Living in 2016.

Vila was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Happy Hour Club. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

On Wednesday, June 5, 2019 Vila died at Accura Health Care in Manning, Iowa after experiencing a rapid decline in health in the beginning of May. She was 96 years, 1 month and 24 days of age.
