Theresa Soyer

September 30, 1935 — February 19, 2017

   Theresa Ann, daughter of Joseph and Caroline (Smith) Veit, was born September 30, 1935 in Sac City, Iowa. The family lived in Odebolt where Theresa started school and worked with her family. She attended St. Angela’s Academy in Carroll where she lived with her sister, Agnes. After graduating from St. Angela’s, she continued to live in Carroll where she met and married Merle Langel in 1962. They were members of St. Joseph’s Parish and were the parents of two boys. Merle died accidentally in 1967. She and her boys lived in Lidderdale before settling in Carroll.

   In 1970, Theresa was united in marriage with Albert Soyer at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. One son was born to this union. The family lived in Carroll. Theresa was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She worked at the Carroll Health Center as a nurse’s aide and in food service. Her husband Albert died on February 6, 1998. She was a loving step mom to her husbands’ children and continued to live in Carroll.

    Theresa enjoyed puzzles, word find books, embroidery and quilting. She was a proud member of the Weenie Roast Bunch. Above all, she loved to visit with family and friends.

   At the beginning of 2017, Theresa became a resident at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll. She died there on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the age of 81 years.

   Preceding her in death are her parents Joseph and Caroline Veit; first husband Merle Langel; second husband Albert Soyer; grandson Joseph Langel; brothers Charlie Veit, William Veit and Albert Veit; sisters Clarissa Veit, Sally Siegler, Veronica Hughs and Joan Peterson.

   Theresa is survived by her children David (Laurie) Langel of Milford, IA, Keith (Lynell) Langel of Milford, IA and Paul (Kelli) Soyer of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Nicole Langel, Taylor Langel, Zachary Langel, Logan Langel and Sayde Soyer; sister Agnes Sporleder of Carroll; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
