Teresa Anna "Babe", daughter of James and Christina (Cossman) LeStrange was born on February 14, 1914 at Wall Lake, Iowa. She attended school in Wall Lake graduating in 1926. She then attended Mount Saint Mary's College in Cherokee graduating in 1930. Babe then started teaching country school near Wall Lake. On June 16, 1936, Babe was united in marriage with Clarence Schweers at St. Joseph Church in Wall Lake. The couple lived on farms north and east of Arcadia for the next 37 years. In 1973 they retired and moved to a home in Arcadia. Babe and Clarence enjoyed traveling in their retirement with the Royal Rovers Club where they served as Roadmasters. She also enjoyed fishing, gambling, dancing, and playing bridge at the Carroll Rec Center with friends, where she never played a short club'. Babe volunteered with the S.A.L.T. program and with reading programs at area schools. Babe held many offices as a member of the Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers Society. Babe and Clarence served on the first Kuemper Parents' Club board. In 2000, Babe moved to Carroll to be closer to Clarence in the nursing home. In March 2010, she became a resident of the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home. On April 15, 2010 Babe passed away there at the age of 96 years, 2 months and 1 day. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007; her parents; a great-grandson Lucas Schweers; sisters: Christine Page and Rose Dick and brothers: Peter, John, James and William LeStrange. Babe is survived by her children: Dale Schweers and his wife Virginia (Fee) of Arcadia; Jean and husband Neil Ludwig of Carroll; Steven Schweers of Atlanta, GA and Beth Frangedakis and husband George of Dakota Dunes, SD; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Ludwig of Clear Lake; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
