Steve Smouse

Steven Frank, son of Howard and La Von (Johnston) Smouse, was born August, 16, 1948, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. He attended school in Coon Rapids and graduated from Coon Rapids High School. Steve worked for the railroad for a couple years, until joining the Garst and Thomas Seed Company. He worked in many supervisory roles through the years until his work ended in 2005. Steve was involved in the Masonic Lodge, Lion's Club and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. In 1967 Steve was united in marriage with Lissa Steffe and two children were born to this union. He enjoyed canoeing and fishing in Canada for many years. Later in life Steve loved time spent with his grandchildren (and his dog Chewey!). He went golfing as often as he could and enjoyed watching movies. Steve looked forward to taking his Mom on an annual joyride in his golf cart. After a brief illness Steve died on Friday, May 21, 2010, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, at the age of 61 years, 9 months and 5 days. He was preceded in death by his father Howard Smouse. Steve is survived by his children Troy Smouse and fiancé Amanda Terlisner of Coon Rapids and Tracy Smouse of Sioux City; stepdaughter Albina Nazarova of Coon Rapids; grandchildren Yazmine, T.J. and Aurora Smouse of Coon Rapids; mother La Von Smouse of Coon Rapids; sisters Juanita and husband Lyle Paulsen of Coon Rapids and Jan and husband Norm Cretsinger of Coon Rapids; many relatives and good friends.
