Steven Charles Steve?, son of Tobias Selmer and Phyllis (Stribe) Hodne, was born March 26, 1951, in Carroll, Iowa. He attended school in Irwin and was active in 4-H, football and played the trumpet in the school band. Steve graduated from Irwin High School in 1969 and then attended Iowa State University graduating in 1973 with a degree in Farm Operations.
After college Steve began working on the family farm and stayed active in the community through projects in soil and water conservation and as a member of the Cattlemans Association and Farm Bureau. He also worked with his father for several years training G.I.s in farming and conservation practices.
In 1989, Steve became paralyzed after a serious accident. After the accident, he continued working on the farm through the use of computer systems and technology. With the support and love of his friends and family, Steve maintained his positive spirit and outlook throughout his life. Over the years, in his spare time Steve enjoyed Colorado Moutain visits with friends, snowmobiling, motorcycling, good food and watching sports.
As his health declined in 2006 Steve became a resident at Ambassador Nursing Home in Omaha. On October 23, 2007, he was transported to Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska where he died later that day at the age of 56 years, 6 months and 27 days.
Steve was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother Phyllis Hodne of Irwin; sister Carol Hodne of Coralville; brother Douglas Hodne and wife Susan of Torrance, CA; a nephew Tobias Toby? Hodne; a niece Giovanna Gigi? Hodne; and other relatives and friends.
