Stanley Pfeifer

    Stanley Theodore, son of John and Margaret (Kitzinger) Pfeifer was born November 13, 1917 in Oakes, North Dakota.  His family moved to Iowa in 1935 and he graduated from Carroll High School in 1936. 

    On November 13, 1940 Stanley was united in marriage to Ellen Tigges in Willey, Iowa.  The couple made their home in Battle Creek, Michigan before Stanley was inducted into the United States Army Air Corps in 1942 from Carroll County.  When he returned home in 1945 they farmed in Ayrshire for five years before moving to a farm near Melrose, Iowa.  In 1965 the family moved to Knoxville and in 1969 they moved to Perry where he eventually retired as a United States meat inspector at the Oscar Mayer plant.  In 1999 after his wife’s passing, he moved to Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area.

    He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion and St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Arlington, TX.

    On November 24, 2016 Stanley died peacefully at his home in Arlington at the age of 99 years and 11 days.

    Stanley was preceded in death by his parents John and Margaret; wife Ellen Pfeifer; son Lyle Pfeifer; granddaughter Janette Tucker O’Brien; siblings Viola (Andrew) Klein, Hildegarde (Otto) Berg, Loretta (Francis John) Harambasic, Irene (Richard) Carraher, Anastasia (Peter) Reis, Raymond (Ethel) Pfeifer, Celestine "Slick" (Lucille) Pfeifer, Marcella (Henry) Maystadt, Ralph (Lucille) Pfeifer and Orville (Rene) Pfeifer. 

    Left to cherish his memory are his children Charlene (Gary) Rupiper of Templeton, Jane (John) Tucker of Lakeland, FL, Linda Stolmeier of Arlington, TX and Dennis (Debra) Pfeifer of Arlington, TX; 16 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
