Marie Isabelle, daughter of Anthony and Josephine (Schneider) Stinn, was born October 6, 1924, at Earling Iowa. She grew up there and attended St. Joseph's school, graduating in 1942. Marie then lived at home and helped her parents. In 1964 Marie entered the religious community Oblate Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament at Marty, South Dakota, on the Yankton Sioux Reservation. She began her postulancy and novitiate, receiving the name Sister Jean. As a professed Sister, she worked at the Mission Boarding School at St. Paul's Indian Mission where she was a house-parent. Later, Jean Marie was in charge of a daycare center in St. Sylvester's Convent on the Mission. In 1982 she was hired to work in the rectory, second-hand store and as a housekeeper on the St. Augustine's Indian Mission in Winnebago, Nebraska. Jean Marie retired in 1990 and moved to Manning, Iowa to be near her sister. Jean Marie was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Manning and participated in the Altar Society. She believed everyone should have a hobby, and she was an avid collector and enjoyed gardening. Jean Marie loved her church throughout her life. When her health began to fail a few years ago, she moved to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. Jean Marie died there on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 25 days. Jean Marie is preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings: Alfred Stinn (Catherine); Raymond Stinn; Richard "Dick" Stinn; Eugene Stinn (Verna); Vince Stinn (Lillian); Robert "Bob" Stinn (Ann); Gerald Stinn in infancy; Dolores Stinn; Ruthie Stinn; and Mildred Weiskircher (Don). She is survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
