Sandra Kay Behrens

Sandra Kay "Sandy", daughter of Lambert and Marie (Sporrer) Lang was born on December 16, 1943 in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up in Templeton and attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton and then graduated from Kuemper High School in Carroll in 1961. On September 1, 1962 Sandy was united in marriage with Cletus Behrens at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. The couple made their home in Carroll where Sandy worked as a cook at the Burke Hotel. Sandy then worked for General Electric in Carroll and as a cook for the Carroll Country Club for 23 years. Sandy later worked part time at Denny's Restaurant and Kasperbauer Cleaners. In her spare time Sandy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and vacationing in Hawaii. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2008, Sandy courageously battled the disease. On June 1, 2011 she passed away peacefully at her home in Carroll surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren at the age of 67. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew John Behrens. She is survived by her husband Cletus Behrens of Carroll; children: Brian Behrens and friend Lori of Dallas, Texas; Scott Behrens and friend Debbie of Seattle, Washington; Becky Daniel and friend Kurt Baumhover of Carroll; Russell Behrens and wife Nicole of Grinnell; Curtis Behrens and friend Dawn of Williamsburg and Chad Behrens and friend Nikki of Panora; 7 grandchildren; sister Gail and husband Don Staples of Clarion; brother Rick Lang of Dedham; father and mother in law John and Beatrice Behrens of Carroll; many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
