Ruth, daughter of J. J. (Barney) and Marie (Feld) Sapp was born November 29, 1930 in Carroll, Iowa.  She died February 23, 2008 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa after a long illness.  She attended St. Angela Academy in Carroll.

Ruth was married on September 18, 1948 to Merle I. Olberding at Sacred Heart Church in Early, Iowa by Fr. Leo Schumacher.  She worked at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll for 41 years.  She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Women of the Moose Lodge in Carroll. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends, working in her floral garden, needlework, quilting, cheering on her Chicago Cubs, and going to casinos.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; sons Kenneth and Gerard Olberding;  In laws: Reo and Cyrilla Miles, Dick and Alma Schulte, LaVerne Olberding, Orville and Agnes Olberding, Wayne Olberding, Melvin Olberding, and Eugene Olberding; Mother and Father-in-law: John and Christine Olberding; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law: Dick and Judy Sapp; and Sister-in-law: Doris Sapp.

Ruth is survived by her husband Merle of Carroll; children: Jane Olberding and Jeff Miller of Kanawha, Iowa, Cindy Boyd and husband Jerry of Scranton, Iowa, Mark Olberding and wife Cheryl of Olathe, Kansas, Steve Olberding and wife Karen of Carroll, and Thomas Olberding and wife Lola of Jacksonville, Florida; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law: Janet Parent of Chicago, Illinois, Robert Sapp and wife Dorothy of Carroll, Raymond Sapp of Carroll, Mary Steimer and husband Glen of Omaha, Nebraska, Sue Sapp of North St. Paul, Minnesota, Judy Testroet and husband Paul of Carroll, Linda Schaefer and husband Jerry of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; Sisters-in-law: Louise Olberding of Auburn, Iowa and Modesta Olberding of Carroll; and many nieces and nephews.
