Ruby, daughter of John Franklin and Bessie (Mingus) Hall was born September 18, 1911 at Coon Rapids, Iowa and attended grade school in Coon Rapids. Her family then moved to Spirit Lake, where her parents owned a barber shop. Ruby enjoyed swimming and fishing at Spirit Lake and roller skating at Arnolds Park. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School.

On March 16, 1931 Ruby was united in marriage with Delbert M. Goodwin at the Methodist Parsonage in Carroll. The couple resided on a farm six miles north of Coon Rapids with Delberts parents before moving a short distance to another farm. Through the years, Ruby worked as a devoted farmwife helping Delbert in the fields and milking cows. On the farm she enjoyed caring for her animals and raising a garden. In 1972 they moved to Coon Rapids.  In her spare time Ruby loved watching television and listening to the radio.

After the death of her husband on July 15, 1990 Ruby continued to live at her home in Coon Rapids. In December 2006 she became a resident of Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. Ruby died there on July 25, 2008 at the age of 96 years 10 months and 7 days.
