Roger L. Halbur

Roger Lawrence, son of Daniel E. and Rita E. (Steffes) Halbur, was born January 29, 1952 in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up on a farm near Maple River and attended Holy Spirit School and Kuemper High School. Following graduation Roger attended college in Sioux City studying automotive body work. He then moved back to Carroll. He worked at the Scranton Body Shop for many years and then worked in Carroll doing tires. In his spare time Roger enjoyed playing cards and games, fishing, camping and doing word search puzzles. Above all he loved spending time with family and friends. When his health began to fail he moved to a Nursing Home in Omaha in 2005. Roger died Friday, August 2, 2013 at Ambassador Nursing Home, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 61 years, 6 months and 4 days. Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers David Halbur, Gerard Halbur and Russell Halbur; sister Annette Vaughn; sister in law Mona Halbur and nephew Bryen Halbur. Roger is survived by his siblings Diane (Joe) Gross of Carroll, Beverly (Roy) Lorenz of Byron, IL, Art Halbur of Rockdale, IL and Randall (Patti) Halbur of Guthrie Center; brother in law Larry Vaughn of Lake City, Special Friend Margaret Davis of Carroll; nieces and nephews Pamela (Chris) Anthofer, Maria (Travis) Bretey, Michelle Butterfield, Jeremiah (Katie) Lorenz, Carla Lorenz and fiancé Lee, Eric Lorenz and fiancée Angela, Randall Jr. Halbur, Emily Halbur and Eddy Halbur; nine great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
