A graveside service will be held for Robert A. Frahm on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Manning Cemetery in Manning.
Robert A. Frahm, son of Ivan and Norma (Jons) Frahm, was born September 12, 1948, on a farm near Manning, Iowa. The youngest of five children, he grew up in Manning and graduated from Manning High School with the class of 1966. Robert was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he settled in the Des Moines area. Robert worked as a foreman and inspector for pipeline companies, and regularly traveled out of state for work.
He loved horses, eagles, and all animals, the outdoors, gardening, photography, throwing darts, working on vehicles, and smoking meats which he would share with his family. He and Tom enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball and Chicago Cubs baseball. Robert was a proud father and was excited to be a grandpa and enjoyed rocking his grandson Jack.
During retirement, Robert's regular morning routine was to visit the Saylorville Lake spillway near Johnston where he would fish, walk and enjoy nature. On Friday, October 28, 2022, Robert passed away peacefully during his morning routine at Saylorville Lake. He was 74 years, 1 month and 16 days of age.
Robert is survived by a son Tom Frahm and wife Becky of Waukee; a grandson Jack Frahm of Waukee; a brother Ken Frahm and wife Rosemary of Templeton; a sister Eileen Monson and husband Gary of Audubon; and by nieces, nephews and other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Dennis and Merlin Frahm.
