Rita Stangl

Rita Theresa, daughter of Frank X. and Agnes (Kemper) Irlmeier, was born on a farm near Templeton on June 17, 1926. Rita attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton through the eighth grade. She then remained at home to help on the farm and with the housework. On January 7, 1948 Rita was united in marriage with Vernon Andrew Stangl by Rt. Rev. Msgr. F. H. Huesman at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. They made their home on the farm north of Manning and were the parents of four children. Rita was a homemaker and could do most anything on the farm. She enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening. She was also a quilter and made ceramics. After they moved into Manning in November of 1991, Rita volunteered at the Plaza and Snack Bar. Rita was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning where she was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Altar Society. When Rita could no longer be at home, she became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home in September of 2007. She died there on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 19 days. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Vernon in 1992; siblings Agnes Halbur, Lawrence Irlmeier, Eleanora Irlmeier, Albert Irlmeier, Herbert Irlmeier and Frank "Boots" Irlmeier. Rita is survived by her four children: Duane Stangl and wife Vicki of Manilla; Larry Stangl and wife Susan of Manning; Dale Stangl and wife Renee of Manning; and Sheila and husband Dennis Golwitzer of Crescent; 12 grandchildren: Tracey and husband Kyle Streeter, Jennifer and husband Ed Vance, Tiffany and husband Jeff Goetz, Jeremy Stangl and wife Angie, Monica and husband Jason Danner, Andrew Stangl and wife Carissa, Kristie and husband Sam Lockhart, Aaron Stangl and wife Abbey, Nathan Stangl and wife Stacey, Nicole Stangl, Jessica Golwitzer and Erica Golwitzer; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Caroline Vonnahme of Arcadia; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
