Raymond Lee, son of Leonard and Margaret (Jedele) Holdsworth, was born July 7, 1929, at home on the family farm near Manilla.  He attended country schools and then graduated from Manilla High School in 1948.  Raymond farmed for a time before enlisting in the United States Air Force and serving in the Korean War.

Upon his return from the service, Raymond farmed with his brother Harold.  On July 16, 1955, he was united in marriage with Donna Frailing at Clintonville, WI.  Four children were born to this union.  Raymond continued to farm his homeplace southeast of Manilla until his retirement in the early 1990s.  He and Donna moved into Manilla in 1998.

Raymond and Donna enjoyed taking long car trips to many states, often visiting with family along the way.  Raymond was also an accomplished woodworker and furniture maker.  Through the years he was a Manilla Community Club, Farm Bureau and American Legion member.  Raymond held various offices in Trinity Lutheran Church and was on the board of the M and M Country Club.

Earlier this fall, Raymond became ill and had complications from a surgery.  After a brief stay at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, NE, Raymond died there on Monday, November 10, 2008.  He was 79 years, 3 months and 2 weeks of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Harold Holdsworth and Robert Holdsworth and wife Lois; and sister Darlene Johnson.

Raymond is survived by his wife Donna Holdsworth of Manilla; four children:  Jerry Holdsworth of Las Vegas, NV; Susan and husband Donald Ballantine of Vail; Andrew Holdsworth of Audubon; and Mark Holdsworth and wife Jan of Manilla; seven grandchildren:  Adam Holdsworth; Kyle, Aaron and Kiley Holdsworth; and Ian, Taylor and Piper Ballantine; sister Dorothy and husband Bill Ballantine of Ft. Myers, FL; sister-in-law Yvonne Holdsworth of Manilla; brother-in-law Larry Johnson of Broken Arrow, OK; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
