On November 6, 1927 Paul Reiff was born in Carroll, Iowa to Robert and Susan (Daniel) Reiff. He attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel grade school and following graduation from Carroll High School in 1945 Paul served in the U.S. Army. Paul was united in marriage on November 24, 1948 to Irene Rosalia Muhlbauer at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll.
Paul and Irene farmed in Breda, Iowa; Lakefield, Minnesota; and Fonda, Iowa. In 1965 they acquired the Fonda Sale Barn, and then in 1967 they bought the Fonda Hardware Store which they operated until retirement in 1995. In 2001 they moved to Carroll where Paul resided at St. Anthony Nursing Home.
Paul was a former member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Fonda, Iowa. He was long term member of the Fonda City Council, 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus, Fonda Fire Department, the Fonda Booster Club, and Fonda Golf Course Board of Directors. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course, playing cards, gardening and yard work, and visiting siblings and children.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; wife Irene Rosalia Reiff (2004); step grandchild Cole McGee; and a sister Marian Polka; mother and father-in-law: Joseph and Alma Muhlbauer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Floyd Schlorholtz, Robert Schouten, Alvin Reiff, Marilyn Reiff, Robert Muhlabuer and his wife Evelyn, Mike Muhlbauer, Norma Masching and her husband Ed, and Paul Gehling.
Paul is survived by three daughters: Sherry (Jim) Shelp of Glenbeulah, Wisconsin, Jane (Jay) Krogh of Urbandale, Iowa, and Joan (Steve) Tallman of Granger, Iowa; four sons: Dan (Lesa) Reiff of Rogers, Arkansas, Alan (Kelly) Reiff of Glen Rose, Texas, Jim (Deb) Reiff of Chanhassen, Minnesota, and Dave (Jean) Reiff of Rogers, Arkansas; 20 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 4 step grandchildren; three sisters: Louise Schlorholtz of Rockwell, Iowa, Margaret Baumhover of Carroll, and Karen Schouten of Carroll; two brothers: Ray (Ethel) Reiff of Carroll, and Bob (Judy) Reiff of Hayward, Wisconsin; step brother: Art Reiff of Carroll; three step sisters: Jean (Cliff) Eischeid, Della Reiff, and Marrie Sullivan all of Carroll; sisters-in-law: Ella Mae Reiff of Carroll, Rita Gehling of Kilkenney, Minnesota and Judy (Gordon) Benson of Charles City, Iowa; brothers-in-law: Tom (Peg) Muhlbauer of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Jim Muhlbauer of Austin, Minnesota, Jerry (Helen) Muhlbauer of Tyler, Texas, and Ken (Norma) Muhlbauer of Cary, North Carolina, and Joe Polka of Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
