Neva Irene, daughter of Albert and Hazel (Barber) Deppman, was born June 27, 1916, on her family's farm northwest of Coon Rapids, IA. She attended country school and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1934. Neva worked at Armour's Creamery in Coon Rapids for five years following high school. On June 19, 1938, Neva was united in marriage with Clair "Ike" Porter Clark at Villisca, IA. They made their home in Coon Rapids and two children were born to this union. During World War II the family followed Ike to several of his postings around the country. Neva was an accomplished cook and seamstress, in addition to working with her husband as bookkeeper for their car dealership. She also worked as a cook and ran the school lunch program in Coon Rapids for twelve years. Following Ike's death from cancer in 1975, Neva changed careers and sold AFLAC insurance for many years until her retirement. Neva was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and "Apple Dumpling Gang." She was a charter member of the local TTT organization. Neva volunteered at New Hope and delivered Meals on Wheels. For many years Neva enjoyed traveling with a wonderful group of friends. She loved animals, especially cats, and cared for many pets through the years. In 2013 Neva moved to the Thomas Rest Haven nursing home in Coon Rapids due to her declining health.
