Nancy Ann Simonsen was born in Denison, Iowa, on October 16, 1954, the daughter of Albert and Marilyn (Chapman) Woebke. She graduated from Manilla High School in 1972. She was joined in marriage to Brad Simonsen in 1974 and was blessed with four children.
Throughout her life, Nancy held various roles including working at the Manilla Bowl where she found joy in both working and bowling. She also dedicated many years of service at CDS in Harlan and Manilla Manor before eventually retiring in 2021.
Nancy had a vibrant spirit and diverse interests. She was an avid crocheter who lovingly crafted hundreds of afghans, even ensuring Bill’s dogs had their own. Nancy cherished spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, tending to her numerous house plants, collecting red, white, and blue items, reading books, and maintaining a consistent routine as a creature of habit.
Nancy passed away on March 29, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 69 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Marilyn Woebke; sisters, Cheryl Bral and Shirley Woebke; brother, Neil Woebke; parents-in-law, Jack and Betty Lou Simonsen; and sister-in-law, Linda Simonsen.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Simonsen and her boyfriend Scott Fink of Manilla; sons: Bill Simonsen and his wife Sheila of Manilla, Jeff Simonsen of Marengo, and Kyle Simonsen of Laurens; 6 grandchildren: Mason Boell, Makenna Simonsen, Lizzy Terlisner, Jaxdon Simonsen, Macksen Simonsen, and Jaden Simonsen; sister, Caryl and her husband Curt Stribe of Manning; a host of other relatives and friends.
