Interment

St. Boniface Cemetery, Charter Oak, Iowa

Milton Joseph, son of William and Angela (McKinstry) Staley, was born February 2, 1924, at Ute, Iowa. He attended schools in Charter Oak and graduated with the Class of 1941. When he went for his military physical they discovered severe back problems that continued to plague him his entire life.

Milton worked for Earl May in Denison and, after moving to Carroll, worked at Park Gardens.  In 1975 he started working for General Electric, retiring after 10 years. Milton remained in Carroll where he was active in the R.S.V. P. He also delivered blood for the Red Cross and delivered Meals on Wheels.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Serra Club. He was a devoted Catholic and attended mass daily and listened to mass wherever it was available, on radio or television. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.

Milton had been in declining health for several years and moved into Swan House in January of 2008. Milton died at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 7 days.

Preceding him in death are his parents; two brothers Lambert, in infancy, and Eugene Staley; and sister Wilma Brown.

Milton is survived by his sister Lucilla and her husband Neal Robinson of Crystal, Minnesota and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
