       Mildred Millie? Clara, daughter of William and Margaret (Brinks) Schmitz was born of November 9, 1942 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper High School. She later obtained CNA certification and worked for a nursing home in Perry before returning to work at a nursing home in Carroll.     On January 13, 1968 Millie was united in marriage with Tom Landon. Millie, Tom and their children made their home in Carroll before moving to an acreage near Charter Oak. They later moved to Danbury where Millie began working for a nursing home in Mapleton. In 1995 they moved to Auburn where Millie worked for Mohrs Farm Market. She later worked for McDonalds in Carroll until her retirement in 2007.      Mille was a member of St. Marys Church in Auburn where she sang in the choir for many years. She loved to sing, visit with family and friends, tend her garden and flowers, spend time outdoors, and take care of others.      Millie died on April 9, 2009 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa after a two year battle with cancer. She was 66 years and 5 months of age.      Millie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Louis Schmitz, Raymond Schmitz, Joseph Schmitz and  William Schmitz and wife Cathleen; and sisters Mary Swatta and Marlene Schmitz.     She is survived by her husband Tom Landon of Auburn; children: Mike Landon and fianc Carrie Bumann of Ida Grove; Sandy Landon and friend Jim Brettion of Olivia , MN; Lori and husband Bill Davis of Ida Grove and Steven Landon and wife Kaori Landon of Okinawa, Japan; 17 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild;  brothers Don Schmitz of Dedham and Bob Schmitz of York, NE; sisters Rita Becker of Carroll; Irma Morgan of Boone and Sally Berning of Carroll; sister-in-law Ruth Schmitz of Poway, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
