Michele Anne Kerwin

Michele Anne, daughter of James F. and Nancy (Cook) Kerwin, was born December 14, 1955, at Carroll, Iowa. She attended Holy Spirit School, graduating from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1974. Michele graduated Phi Beta Kappa in English from Iowa State University and earned a Master's Degree from the University of Iowa in Library Science. Since 1980 she was an English teacher on the faculty of Kuemper Catholic High School. Michele was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, had served on various committees at school, and had donated over ten gallons of blood. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed her cats, reading, traveling, music, learning and helping others. In April 2009, Michele was diagnosed with cancer. She continued teaching while courageously battling cancer. In February 2010, Michele retired from Kuemper. On March 14, 2010, Michele died at the Kerwin family home in Carroll at the age of 54 years and three months. Ms. Kerwin was preceded in death by her father, James, and her grandparents. Survivors include her mother, Nancy, of Carroll, her sister Patrice Strother and husband Dr. Ralph T. of Union, her special friend Larry L. "Doc" Sporrer of Templeton, niece Kathryn Strother of Ames, nephew Robert Strother of Ames, aunt Sr. Maris Kerwin, F.S.P.A. of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and aunt Kay Ogle and husband Lee of Omaha, and thousands of former students.
