Olivet Cemetery Carroll, Iowa A son of Leo Paul and Elizabeth (Hawn) Sullivan, Michael was born June 8, 1929, at Dunlap and graduated from St. Patrick High School.He and Irma Sullivan were married April 11, 1950, at Earling with Monsignor Bisson officiating. Mr. Sullivan resided in Carroll for 44 years and was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. Survivors include a special friend, JoAnn Brincks, of Carroll; six children and their spouses: Ruth and Gene Nellesen of Carroll, Gene Sullivan and fiance Dianne Nunnes of Alexandria, Minn., Joanne Mangold of Des Moines, Bill and Cher Sullivan of Honolulu, Hawaii, Betty and Tim Johnson of West Lafayette, Ind., and Jeff Sullivan of Des Moines; nine grandchildren and their spouses: Patrick and Amber Sawhill, Jay and Jodi Nellesen, Adam and Stephanie Sullivan, Matthew Sawhill and fiance Amy Westcott, Michael and Brianne Mangold, Kate Johnson, Blake Johnson, Justin Sullivan and Tanner Sullivan; five siblings and their spouses: Robert and Theresa Sullivan of Woodbine, Delores Drahota of Omaha, Neb., Sheral Sullivan of Minneapolis, Minn., Claire and Albert Goblirsch of Ralston, Neb., and Kenneth Sullivan of Dunlap; three brothers-in-law and their spouses: Nick and Mildred Heese of Earling, Bernard Heese of Denver, Colo., and Vince and Cathy Heese of Earling; and two sisters-in-law: Mary Reischl of Earling and Sister Leta Heese of Elgin, Neb. Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irma, in 1997; and three brothers: Joseph, Leo and Jim Sullivan.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll Kuemper Tuition Assistance Fund or the American Cancer Society.
