            Mary A. Schmidt, daughter of Henry and Mary (Sullivan) Schmidt, was born March 4, 1904 in New York, New York.  She spent most of her life working as a beautician in New York including managing a beauty shop at Bloomingdales at the age of 14.  She lived on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx for 45 years.  Mary moved to Orchard View in Carroll in 2002.           She died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa at the age of 104.   

            Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Alice Lemelson, Bertha Nelson, Laura Kelly; brother Henry Schmidt; nephew Joseph Schmidt; and niece Kathleen Kelly.

            Mary is survived by niece-in-law Janet Schmidt of Ames, Iowa; grand niece Joan Bennett & husband Mark of Mt Carmel, Iowa; grand nephew Joseph Schmidt of Ames, Iowa; great grand nieces Rachel and Cynthia Bennett of Ames, Iowa; and great grand nephew Kyle Bennett of Mt. Carmel, Iowa
