Mary Jo Ann, daughter of Albert Andrew and Ruth Irene (Leach) Hansen, was born May 29, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa. She lived on a farm near Colfax until age five years. She then moved with her family to Des Moines where she attended school, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1953. From the ages of five through seventeen, Mary Jo enjoyed dance lessons in tap and ballet, as well as, gymnastics. After graduation she took two more years of schooling to become a medical secretary.
On August 28, 1954 Mary Jo was united in marriage with Orville Dale? Wolver and they were the parents of three children Michael, Debra and Scott. In September of 1966, she was united in marriage with James Lyall and they became the parents of Brenda. Her third marriage was with Arthur Gene? Farr in 1970 and to this union one son Eric was born. She lived in Iowa, Arizona and New Jersey at various times in her life.
Mary Jo enjoyed being a mother and wife. As a teenager she worked as a dime store clerk. Later she worked as a medical secretary, office clerk and grocery store cashier. In her spare time she found pleasure in dancing, going on dates and going to the movies. She played the guitar and sang in a band in the Des Moines area. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Order of the Eastern Star. Her family remembers her as always being busy and having a great sense of humor.
In 2001, Mary Jo became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. During her time at the Plaza she made many new friends and enjoyed her activities, especially the Dutch treat and Snack Bar. Mary Jo died there on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 1 day.
Preceding her in death are her parents and son Scott Wolver.
She is survived by four children: Michael Wolver and wife Sherry of Mesa, AZ; Debra and husband Marvin Schneller of Denison; Brenda and husband Terence Seals of Great Meadows, NJ and Eric Farr of Des Moines; eight grandchildren: Michael Wolver, Jr of Mesa, AZ; Douglas Wolver and wife Lynn of Glendale, AZ; William Schneller of Ames; Rebecca Schneller of Denison; Chad and Troy Wolver of Glendale, AZ; and Colton and Erin Seals of Great Meadows, NJ; three great-grandchildren Blake Wolver of Mesa, AZ, Ryan Wolver and Taylor Diamond Wolver of Glendale, AZ; sister Martha Cumpton of Des Moines; other relatives and friends.
