Mary Helen Klocke

Mary Helen, daughter of John J. and Elizabeth (Mattes) Klocke was born on November 24, 1912 in Roselle Township, Carroll County, Iowa. She attended St. Angela's Academy in Carroll and later received her business degree from Specialist Business University in Des Moines. Mary Helen then returned to Carroll and worked for 33 years as a social worker in the area until her retirement. Mary Helen was then an active volunteer working with the residents at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home. There she received a certificate of appreciation for 20 years of service. Mary Helen was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Spirit Ladies Guild, the Legion Mary, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and the Little Flower Study Club. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling. Mary Helen became a resident of St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll in 2005. She passed away there on January 1, 2011 at the age of 98 years, 1 month and 8 days. Mary Helen was preceded in death by her parents and sisters and brother: Lucy and husband Henry Kitt; Edward Klocke and Helen and husband Norbert Fehring and nephews: Jerry Kitt, Jerry Fehring, Jack Fehring and Matt Fehring. She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews: Mary Jane and husband Larry Loew of Maple River; Dennis Kitt of Denison; Donald Kitt of Carroll; Larry Kitt of Minneapolis, MN; Paul Kitt and wife JoAnn of Des Moines; Michael Kitt and wife Mary Lou of Carroll; Patricia and husband Bruce Landing of Orlando, FL; Betty and husband Todd Thoma of Cherokee; Judy Hubesch of Oklahoma City, OK and Patrick Fehring and wife Marcia of Ida Grove; other relatives and friends.
