Marvin Pietig

February 3, 1919 — June 15, 2012

Marvin William, son of Herman and Amelia (Ludwig) Pietig, was born February 3, 1919 in Carroll, Iowa. He lived with his family on the farm and attended St. Peter and Paul School in Carroll. After completing his schooling he lived and worked with his parents on the farm. On April 30, 1946 Marvin was united in marriage with Annabell Sanders at St. John's Catholic Church in Arcadia by Rev. Matthias Stork. They were the parents of five children and lived on the family farm south of Carroll. Marvin was a grain farmer, also raising hogs and feeding cattle. All aspects of farming were his passion. Marvin was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and Holy Spirit Men's Club. He served on the building committee for the Holy Spirit School and Holy Spirit Church. He was a member of Carroll County Pork Producers and Carroll County Cattleman's Association serving on many of their committees. Marvin enjoyed helping on the farm after he retired. Marvin and Annabell moved into Carroll in 1985. Over the years they enjoyed dancing and going on bus trips. Above all Marvin took great joy in his family. When his health began to fail he became a resident of St. Anthony Nursing Home in August of 2011. The next month his wife joined him there.
