Marla Mae, daughter of Edward Earl Senior and Ida Marie Katherine (Hansen) Furne was born February 4, 1938 in Danbury, Iowa.  She attended high school in Battle Creek, Iowa.   Marla was one out of fourteen children born in her family.     She worked as a waitress and cook for many years.  On March 14, 1981 Marla was united in marriage with Virgil Juhl at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa.    She then continued her passion for cooking at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn where she worked for over 20 years.  Marla retired in 2011.     Her greatest passions were bringing people together, enjoying everyone and genealogy. Marla was a member of the Pleasant Valley Club in Irwin and a Girl Scout Leader in Atlantic.  She always enjoyed a good laugh, funny jokes, preparing and enjoying delicious food.  Beyond all of these things, Marla was an even better mother and grandmother.  Her selfless character will be remembered by her family and friends.      Marla’s health began to decline in 2013.  She died Friday March 18, 2016 at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center at the age of 78 years 1 month and 14 days.     Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Virgil in 2008; siblings Andrew Furne in infancy, Richard (Marge) Furne, Francis Gute, Willis Furne, Frederick Furne and Edward Furne.     Marla is survived by her children Douglas Shrimpton of Sioux Falls, SD, Elvin (Lisa) Shrimpton of Omaha, NE and Sonia Kuchel of Manning; grandchildren Sydney Andrea of Brookings, SD, Christopher Shrimpton, Natasha (Nick) Schultes of Gilbert, AZ, Nate (Chelsey) Jensen of Manning, Brice Shrimpton of Carroll, Tabitha Kuchel of Schleswig and Haley Kuchel of Manning; great grandchildren Chloe and Phoebe Schultes of Gilbert, AZ, Isabella Shrimpton of Fort Dodge, Cade Jensen of Manning and Anthony Larson of Schleswig; siblings Craig (Robin) Furne of Denison, Wesley (Diane) Furne of Denison, Carla (Larry) Winans of Panama, Leanna (Jerry) Jensen of Indianola, Roger (Judy) Furne of Battle Creek, Dennis (Elaine) Furne of Suncity, AZ, Kendall Furne of Denison; other relatives and friends.
