Marilyn Mae, daughter of William and Wilda (Davis) Chapman, was born September 24, 1930 at Mapleton, Iowa. As a youngster, she moved with her family to the Vail and Denison areas. She attended Denison High School, graduating with the Class of 1948.

On May 15, 1949, Marilyn was united in marriage with Albert H. Woebke at Denison. Five children were born to this union. The family lived primarily on a farm in the Manilla area. After the death of her husband on July 30, 1977, she moved into Manilla and began working at the Manilla Manor Nursing home in the housekeeping department. After 26 years in that position she retired in 2003. Marilyn was an independent woman, caring for her home and yard up through the summer before her death. She had an extensive collection of 700 salt and pepper shakers and close to 300 pitchers. She enjoyed traveling to area casinos and purchasing her weekly lottery tickets.

On December 24, 2008, Marilyn suffered a stroke and after her hospital stays entered the Manilla Manor Nursing Home. She died there on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 9 days.

Preceding Marilyn in death are her parents; husband Albert Woebke; a daughter in infancy; and brother Daryl Chapman.
