Marian Katherine, daughter of George M. and Gertrude (Brauckman) Frank, was born September 7, 1931, in Coon Rapids, Iowa. She attended Catholic School in Coon Rapids and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1949.  On September 17, 1951, Marian was united in marriage with Glenn Hilgenberg at Annunciation Church in Coon Rapids. They lived in Coon Rapids before moving to Bayard where they lived for over forty years. Marian was a member of St. Patricks Parish and a Neighborhood Group Breakfast Club. After raising her children she worked for HiLine and Boomsma Hatcheries, retiring in 1987.

After the death of her husband Glenn in 1995, Marian remained in their home in Bayard. When her health began to fail early in 1999, she became a resident of Thomas Rest Haven Nursing Home in Coon Rapids and rejoined Annunciation Parish. Her grandchildren were of the utmost importance to her, however, she also enjoyed flower gardening and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Marian suffered a severe stroke the last part of February 2008 and died two weeks later on March 8, 2008 at St Anthony Hospital, Carroll, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 1 day.

Preceding Marian in death are her parents; husband; son Brad Hilgenberg; two sisters Cleadthe Hubbell and Arlene Lumsden; and two brothers Jerome Frank and George Frank.

She is survived by five children: Sherry (Gary) Mozena, Bayard; Steve (Lori) Hilgenberg, Bayard; Bryan (ZaVette) Hilgenberg, Coon Rapids; Craig Hilgenberg, Cedar Rapids; Cindy (Brad) Harrison, Adel; daughter-in-law Shina Unsong Hilgenberg, Panama City, FL; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Delores Duncan, Carroll; Marjorie Golay, Carroll & Rosemary (Ed) Weaver, California; brothers Harold (Charlotte) Frank, Harlan; Kenneth Frank, Carroll & Wilson (Tammy) Frank, Arizona; sisters-in-law Evelyn Wolf, Yale and Eloise Hilgenberg, Waukee; brothers-in-law Gene Hilgenberg, Coon Rapids and Wallace Lumsden, Carroll; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
