Marguerite June, daughter of Ralph and Bonnie (Lee) Bower, was born March 22, 1922, at her grandparents home in Coon Rapids, Iowa. She lived with her family on a farm south of Coon Rapids where she attended rural school. She completed her schooling in Coon Rapids, graduating with the Class of 1940. After completing her education, she remained at home and helped her parents. On April 8, 1942, Marguerite was united in marriage with George Bowman at the Methodist Parsonage in Carroll by Reverend Clayburg. They lived and farmed on rented property north of Coon Rapids until 1955 when they started farming the Bowman family farm in the same area north of Coon Rapids. Four children were born to this union. Marguerite was primarily a homemaker, however she helped with the farm work when needed. She enjoyed working in their yard and grove. Marguerite was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Carrollton Community Club and Eastern Star. George and Marguerite spent 16 winters in Florida where they enjoyed clubhouse activities and playing cards with friends from other parts of the country. In later years, she loved to work word-find puzzles. Her most important past time was her family. Marguerite died rather unexpectedly on Thursday, November 2, 2006, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 11 days. Preceding her in death are her parents and brother Darrell Bower and his wife Ellen. Marguerite is survived by her husband George Bowman of Coon Rapids; four children: Gary Bowman and wife Sharon of Carroll; Ron Bowman and wife Nancy of Coon Rapids; Annette and husband Troy Halbur of West Des Moines; and Jeanine and husband Greg Mowrey of West Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Gerald Bowman and wife Darlene of Coon Rapids; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
