    Loretta, daughter of Bernard and Catherine (Thiemann) Niehaus, was born April 26, 1906, in Arcadia, Iowa. She received her education at St. Johns School in Arcadia, Iowa. On February 9, 1926 she was married to Arthur Diers at St. Johns Catholic Church in Arcadia, Iowa by Fr. John G. Berger.     Loretta was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church in Arcadia and a long time member of the Christian Guild in Arcadia. She was a homemaker and made nut cups and floral arrangements for weddings and special occasions for family and friends. She enjoyed spending time in Minnesota fishing, playing bridge, and spending time with family and friends.     Loretta died Monday, April 14, 2008, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur Diers (1980); a great grandchild Michael Winker; brothers: Leo, Henry, William, and Frank Niehaus; and a sister Mayme (Scherbring) Stangl. Loretta is survived by her daughter Inez Winker and husband Daryl of Carroll; sons: Don Diers and wife Ruth of Arcadia, Iowa and Lon Diers and wife Roselyn of Carroll. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for St. Johns Parish in Arcadia and the Kuemper Catholic Schools and is available at the funeral home and St. Johns Church in Arcadia, Iowa.
