Lorene Schumacher, the daughter of Fred and Lorena George was born June 4, 1920. She grew up on her parents farm northeast of Coon Rapids, Iowa and died February 23, 2008 at the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, Iowa at the age of 87.
Lorene attended Coon Rapids Public School. She took normal training in high school and taught country school in Carroll County for four years. While attending 4 Cs Business College in Des Moines she worked for Frances William Keck and at Dahls Grocery Store.
On January 2, 1944 she married Paul Textor of Coon Rapids. Paul served a number of United Methodist churches in central and southern Iowa. When he retired they moved to Coon Rapids. Paul died February 19, 1976.
Lorene worked in the produce department of Frohlichs Grocery Store for several years and also in Christian education for the Coon Rapids United Methodist Church. Among her many interests were working on Volunteer in Mission projects, sewing, needlepoint, and playing Scrabble.
She married Walter Schumacher January 13, 1979. He passed away October 29, 1984. For the past five years she has been a resident of the Thomas Rest Haven.
Lorene is survived by her children: Shirley Textor of Oakland, Iowa, Dian McMahon and husband Dave of South Plainfield, N.J., Loyd Textor and wife Judy of Johnston, Iowa and their son Jason, and Evelyn Ned and husband Morris of Tucson, Arizona and her daughter Jessica; brothers: John George and wife Marcella of Nevada, Iowa, Dale George and wife Darlene of Coon Rapids, Iowa and Wade George and wife Arlene of Coon Rapids; stepchildren Jan Pearson and husband John of Anamosa, Iowa, Tom Schumacher and wife Jo of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Marlene Hight and husband LeRoy of Schleswig, Iowa, and Alan Yeager and wife Bev of Ida Grove, Iowa; as well as step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial has been established for Red Bird Mission, 70 Queendale Center, Beverly, Kentucky 40813 and Mission Projects, % Bev Baker, First United Methodist Church, PO Box 148, Coon Rapids, Iowa 50058.
