Loren Ferry

Loren Edward, son of Wayne and Katherine (Schleimer) Ferry, was born March 28, 1936, in Harlan, Iowa. He was raised in the Irwin area and attended schools in the Kirkman and Irwin districts, graduating from Irwin High School in 1955.

On June 16, 1957, Loren was united in marriage with Jeanette Soll at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla. They made their home on a farm just north of Manilla and six children were born to this marriage. Loren farmed and did custom trucking and corn shelling. Throughout the years, he sold seed corn for several companies, including Gruhn Hybrid, Sucrosco and the latest being Jacobsen's. Loren and Jeanette moved to Manilla in 1988 and he quit farming in 1990.

Loren was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla. He enjoyed camping, watching NASCAR, visiting with family and friends, going to the coffee shop, and going on yearly family vacations.

On Wednesday, October 13, 2021, Loren passed away at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa. He was 85 years, 6 months and 15 days of age.

Loren is survived by his wife Jeanette Ferry of Manilla; Six children: Cheryl Arnold and husband Jay of Pleasant Hill; Steve Ferry and friend Lisa Zimmerman of Odebolt; Jill Davis of Cedar Falls; Diane Vetter and husband Brian of Vail; Darin Ferry and wife Jill of Portsmouth; Jason Ferry and wife Lori of Manning; 12 grandchildren: Heather, Mary, John, David, Kyle, Nathan, Amelia, Marea, Addison, Andrea, Andrew and Sierra; 11 great-grandchildren: Brady, Olivia, Sofia, Zak, Jethro, Charlotte, Ruby Kieryn, Norah, Moxx and Lucy; a sister Marla Crane and husband Larry of Maricopa, Arizona; a sister-in-law Janice Ferry of Schleswig; and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter Amber Rose Vorrath; a son-in-law Ron Davis; and his brother Galen Ferry.

Funeral Service was held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Manilla, Iowa
