Lois Ann, daughter of Gilmer and Ida (Gruhn) Anthony, was born December 30, 1935 in Carroll, Iowa. She attended rural schools, Westside Junior High School and graduated from Manning High School in 1954.
On June 3, 1956 Lois was united in marriage with Lowell Stribe at the United Methodist Church in Manning. Lois worked for Erwin H. Hansen Law Office in Manning. In 1958 they started farming north east of Manning while raising their three children. Lois also worked at the Anderson Clinic for both Dr. Chandler and Dr. Myer. She then worked as Site Manager for Manning’s Senior Center. After their farm and acreage sale, they moved to their home in Manning in 1989.
Lois was active in the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and P.E.O. She was a member of Homemakers Club and served as President. She found peace and enjoyment in the beauty of flower gardening, reading and playing cards with family and friends. Above all she found great enjoyment in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lois died suddenly and unexpectedly at Manning Regional Healthcare Center, Manning, IA on Friday evening, February 17, 2017. She was 81 years, 1 month and 16 days of age.
Preceding her in death are her parents; grandson Austin Bailey; Brother Larry Anthony; sister in law Donna Anthony; and Lowell’s brothers Lon Stribe, in infancy, and Dean Stribe.
Lois is survived by her husband Lowell Stribe of Manning; three children: Allen (Carlys) Stribe of Manning, Sue Ann (Allyn) Strecker of Des Moines and Lisa (Larry) Bailey of Des Moines; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Alan) Morris of Manning, Scott Stribe of Mt. Pleasant, Steven Strecker of Des Moines, Alayna Bailey (Pete Westerkamp) of Des Moines, Andrea Bailey (Shawn Bobbitt) of Waukee, Michael (Lori) Bailey of Montclair, VA and Michelle (Stephen) Hill of Ft. Riley, KS; 10 great grandchildren Camden, Brennen and Harper Morris; Rowyn and Julia Hill; Emily, Jane, Wyatt and Morgan Bailey; and Evelyn Bobbitt; brothers Dan (Eloise) Anthony of Newton, Dick Anthony of Des Moines and Randy (Jacki) Anthony of Denison; sisters in law Nancy Anthony of Stickney, SD and Marge Stribe of Manning; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
