Linus Albert, son of Peter J. and Lena (Truhe) Eischeid, was born September 1, 1926 at Halbur, Iowa. He went to St. Augustine School in Halbur and then farmed with his family. On September 5, 1951, Linus was united in marriage with Joan Bernholtz at St. Mary's Church in Willey by Fr. H. J. Dries. They were the parents of seven children and made their home in Halbur. Before his marriage he had started his own tiling business which he ran until 1966 when he started at Iowa Beef Processors. In 1972 he went to work at Pre-Cast Company for the next nine years. From 1987 to 2003 he was the janitor for Holy Trinity Church in Halbur. Linus enjoyed being around people, visiting, playing cards and other games. He inherited his mother's green thumb when it came to growing flowers and planting his many gardens. He collected cans, listened to music and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with his children and grandchildren Linus was a lifelong member of St. Augustine Parish and the Men's Club in Halbur. When he moved to Carroll he became a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Men's Club. In March of 2009 Linus developed pneumonia. His health continued to fail and during that time he became a resident of the Thomas Rest Haven Nursing Home in Coon Rapids. He died there on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 6 days. Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers Edward Eischeid; Fred (Waunita) Eischeid; Melvin (Pearl) Eischeid and Wilfred Eischeid; sisters Elaine Bolster and Eleanor (Alex) Irlmeier; brothers-in-law Art Baumhover and Alex (Eleanor) Irlmeier; and sister-in-law Pearl Eischeid. Survivors include his wife Joan Eischeid of Coon Rapids; seven children: David Eischeid (Kathy) of Omaha, NE; Dan Eischeid (Maureen) of LaVista, NE; Marilyn Halbur (Jeff) of Carroll; Doug Eischeid (Pam) of LaVista, NE; Marcia Galardi (Greg) of Nebraska City, NE; Duane Eischeid of Carroll; and Dennis Eischeid of Carroll; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters: Marlene Willenborg (Ed) of Carroll; Julie Baumhover of Carroll; and Bernadette Harrison (Jim) of Omaha, NE and sisters-in-law Shirley Eischeid of Carroll and Marie Eischeid of Halbur.
