Leroy Niehaus

Leroy C. Niehaus, son of Henry and Elizabeth (Olberding) Niehaus was born on October 9, 1924 near Arcadia, Iowa. He attended St. John School in Arcadia until the 8th grade, when he joined his father farming. On June 16, 1948 he was united in marriage with Corinne Schroeder in Arcadia. Two children were born to this union. The couple lived on their farm east of Arcadia. Leroy enjoyed being with his family, visiting with his friends at Shooters Outlet and Bob's, sightseeing around the countryside, and spending good times with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After Corinne died in 1985, Leroy continued to live on the farm. On July 8, 2010, Leroy died suddenly and unexpectedly at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and a brother all in childhood, and a grandson-in-law Ben Obrecht. Leroy is survived by his sons Steve Niehaus and Jim Niehaus and wife Barb all of Arcadia; granddaughters Sarah and husband Jeremy Smith, and Robin Obrecht all of Arcadia; great-grandchildren: Jadeyn and Blayne Smith and Bryce and Kora Obrecht; sisters: Arlene Schroeder of Arcadia and Mary Ann and husband Lawrence Sibenaller of Carroll; brothers Ralph Niehaus and wife Caroline of Arcadia and Roland Niehaus and wife Joyce of Omaha; a brother-in-law Stanley Schroeder and wife Margaret of Arcadia and many nieces and nephews.
