Leonard Siedhoff, 81, of Bayard passed away on St. Patricks Day, Friday, March 17, 2006, at Conroe Regional Medical Center in Texas.
Leonard, son of Frank and Irene (Husa) Siedhoff, was born in Crete, Nebraska, November 25, 1924. The family moved to Fonda, Iowa in 1941 and he graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School. Leonard served in the United States Marines Corps on the Aircraft Carrier WASP during WWII.
Leonard was united in marriage with Kathleen Tokheim of Lytton, Iowa, in 1949 and they farmed until 1950. He was then employed as Vice-President of Farmers State Bank in Bayard, where he retired as President and Chief Executive Officer in 1986. Leonard also owned the Siedhoff Insurance Agency. While in Bayard, he was a member of the Bayard Lions Club, the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, St. Patricks Parish Council, the Iowa Bankers Association, The Guthrie County Youth Foundation and Mayor Pro-Tem of the Bayard Town Council.
Upon his retirement, Leonard and Kathy shared their residence between Bayard and Lake Conroe, Texas. Leonard enjoyed fishing, gardening and canning, hunting and traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding Leonard in death are his parents; sister Eleanor and husband Don Flessner; brother Joseph Siedhoff; and brothers-in-law Arthur Mullen and Harry Tokheim.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Kathy Siedhoff of Bayard; five children: Jim (Valerie) Siedhoff of Missouri City, Texas; Mari Pat (Mike) Brooks of Keizer, Oregon; Jerry (Denise) Siedhoff of McKinney, Texas; Kit (Scott) Williams of Lake City, Iowa; and John (Carol) Siedhoff of Willis, Texas; nine grandchildren: Renee Frederick; Angela Smith; Jerome Winger; Joan (Leif) Green; Catherine (Greg) Weaver; James Siedhoff; Christopher Brooks; Jonathan Siedhoff; and Christie Siedhoff; eleven great grandchildren: Kerstyn, Rachel and Brian Frederick; Kara, Zachary, Kaitlyn and Cody Smith; Michael, Marcus and Amber Green; and Hannah Weaver; sister Irene Mullen of Fonda; brother-in-law John (Mary) Tokheim of Omaha, NE; other relatives and many friends.
A rosary and prayer vigil was held on Monday, March 20, 2006 at Cashner Colonial Chapel in Texas.
