Leola Timmerman

May 12, 1918 — August 17, 2012

Leola Mae Timmerman, daughter of Amel and Ella (Schoening) Lueth, was born May 12, 1918, near Manilla, in Crawford County, Iowa. She attended rural school and then graduated from Manilla High School. Following her schooling Leola opened her own beauty salon in Manning. On October 9, 1946, Leola was united in marriage with Max Duane Timmerman at the Presbyterian Church in Manning. They moved to Audubon in 1948 where Max co owned the Audubon SuperValu and managed the meat department. Two sons were born to this union. The family moved to Exira in 1963 where Max owned and operated the Exira SuperValu. Leola was a homemaker throughout their marriage. They sold their grocery business in 1978, retired and continued to live in Exira until 1995 when they moved to Carroll. Leola and Max enjoyed winters in Mesa, Arizona when their health permitted. Max died in 1996. Their son Kirk cared for Leola during her later years and was a loyal and devoted companion. Leola eventually moved to Regency Park in Carroll where she had a loving home. Leola died on Friday, August 17, 2012 at the age of 94 years at Regency Park in Carroll. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; son John Duane (in infancy); brothers Harold Lueth and Wesley Lueth, and sister-in-law Jean Lueth. Leola is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Lueth of Corona del Mar, CA; nieces, nephews, and friends.
