Lenore Marie, daughter of Edwin Oliver and Susie (McCord) Adamson, was born May 28, 1912, near Bayard, Iowa. Lenore grew up near Bayard and graduated from Bayard High School in 1929. She then attended Iowa State University and graduated in 1933 with a B.S. in Home Economics. Lenore then taught country school near Bayard, Jefferson, Ruthven and Coon Rapids. On June 9, 1939, Lenore was united in marriage with Karl Shirbroun in the yard at her parents home north of Bayard. Two children were born to this union. The family made their home near Bayard and Lenore continued teaching at Bayard, Yale, Coon Rapids and YBJ. In the early 1960s, she attended Black Hills State College at Spearfish, South Dakota and completed her Library Science Certificate. Lenore then worked as the school librarian at Bayard. She thoroughly enjoyed her work in the library and cherished working with the students. Lenore was a member of the Bayard United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was an active member of the Bayard Lions Club and American Legion Auxiliary Post #44 in Bayard. Shortly following Karls death on January 8, 2003, Lenore moved to the Bayard Nursing and Rehab Center in Bayard, Iowa, where she died Wednesday, February 15, 2006. She was 93 years, 8 months and 18 days of age. Besides her parents and husband, Lenore was preceded in death by a sister Virginia and husband John Warren and two brothers-in-law Roy Durmer and Richard Huffaker. She is survived by her children: Susanne and husband Craig MacDonald and John Shirbroun and wife Nancy, all of Scranton; grandchildren: Barb and husband Dana Smith of Aurelia; Bob Corkins and wife Nancy of Lawrence, KS; Brent Corkins and wife Robyn of Bayard; Bud Corkins of Scranton; Brad Corkins of Tucson, AZ; Shawn MacDonald and wife Cheryl of Valley, NE; Jason Shirbroun and Laura Moen of Fort Dodge; 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Ada Huffaker of Bayard; a sister-in-law Katherine Simons of Coon Rapids; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
