Laroice Lorenzen

She attended school in Manilla and graduated from Manilla High School. She worked in the area after high school and on July 17, 1954, was united in marriage with Marvin H. Lorenzen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla. Five children were born to this union. LaRoice was primarily a homemaker and also did babysitting for others in the community. After being baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Manilla she was in charge of the Cradle Roll Department. In her spare time, LaRoice enjoyed camping, caring for her roses and baking. Many will remember her for all the Christmas lights she and Marvin displayed. Above all, LaRoice enjoyed her grandchildren. When LaRoice's health began to fail, she became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home in the fall of 2008. She died there on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 2 days. Preceding her in death are her parents; two children Randy Lorenzen at 11 months and Cindy Lorenzen a stillborn baby; three brothers Kenneth Ritchey at age 14 years; Robert Ritchey in infancy and Vernon Ritchey; sister Shari Schnoor and two sisters Stella Ritchey and DeRonda Ritchey both in infancy;. She is survived by her loving husband Marvin Lorenzen of Manilla; three children: Jeff Lorenzen and wife Teresa of Denison; Sandy and husband Mark Kremin of Dow City and James Lorenzen and wife Julie of Boone; seven grandchildren: Stacie, Christy, Justin and Amy Lorenzen; Kayla and Chelsy Kremin; and Dillon Lorenzen;; brother Mike Ritchey and wife Sarah of Manilla; and brother-in-law Larry Schnoor of Manilla; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
