Ladelle Joy, daughter of Carl Fredrick and Leona Marie (Andresen) Wiese was born August 22, 1932 on a farm near Irwin, Iowa. She attended Irwin Consolidated School and graduated from Irwin High School in 1950. During high school, Ladelle was an outstanding basketball player and was a starter on the varsity team since eighth grade. Her sophomore year she scored 384 points for the season and helped her team claim the Shelby County Championship.
On November 13, 1949 Ladelle was united in marriage with Orlando "Juny" Hanson at Sioux City. The couple lived on a farm south of Manilla and farmed with Juny's brother, Homer. In 1981 they moved to an acreage just outside of town.
Ladelle kept busy by helping with the farm work, housecleaning for neighbors, sorting corn for Sucrosco, cooking at the Manilla Manor, and baking donuts at the Manilla Depot. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Home Community Club where she met many of her lifelong friends. Ladelle was very generous, always putting others first, and active in her community. She prepared many meals, baked many treats, and patched uncountable articles of clothing. Ladelle loved being outside, especially camping, fishing and working in her garden. She was an avid bowler, earning several trophies, and enjoyed watching basketball and football on television, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. Ladelle cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren, as well as attending their sporting activities. She also cherished time spent with family and extended family on holidays and weekends at the lake.
Juny passed away on November 3, 2008, and Ladelle was able to live on her own until the spring of 2017, when she became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home. She passed away there surrounded by family, on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2020, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 3 days of age.
Besides her husband, Ladelle was preceded in death by her parents; brother Allan Wiese; sister Lyla (Allen) Thompson; brothers-in-law: Raynard (Ruby) Hanson, Alvin Hanson and Homer (Phyllis) Hanson.
She is survived by her daughter Lana and husband Leonard Cadwell of Manning; son Lance Hanson of Manilla; Five Grandchildren: Adam Bexten (Stephanie Finklea), Aaron (Jamie) Bexten, Andrew (Leslie) Bexten, Taylor (Luke) Potthoff, and Tanner Hanson; Six Great-Grandchildren: Jersey and Tucker Bexten, Harper and Kora Potthoff, Levi and Jacob Bexten. Ladelle was also blessed with step-family that includes Step Grandchildren: Dustin Wiese, Shari (Rick) Lohrmann, Jeremy (Jennifer) Cadwell, Rodney (Heather) Cadwell, and Nicholas (Wendie) Cadwell; 13 Step Great-Grandchildren; Two Great-Great-Grandchildren; Special Sister-in-law Theda Wiese of Manning; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
